There are so many amazing sapphic books coming out in 2025, so I decided to dedicate my first post of the new year to hyping up my top ten most anticipated sapphic books!
Hungerstone by Kat Dunn (February 13)
“Hungerstone is a thrillingly seductive sapphic romance for fans of S.T. Gibson’s A Dowry of Blood and Emilia Hart’s Weyward.”
“Set against the violent wilderness of the moors and the uncontrolled appetite of the industrial revolution, Hungerstone is a compulsive feminist reworking of Carmilla, the book that inspired Dracula: a captivating story of appetite and desire.”
As I have mentioned on the Lesbrary before, I am completely and utterly obsessed with vampires, especially if they’re sapphic! I’m planning on reading Carmilla soon, so I also cannot wait to read Kat Dunn’s retelling of it! I am hoping to add another favorite to my ongoing list of sapphic vampire books!
Love Points to You by Alice Lin (March 4)
“A swoony romance between driven, practical Lynda Fan and her rich, arrogant classmate, Angela Wu. When Angela offers Lynda the chance to design characters for her otome game, Lynda discovers things she never knew about herself…or her heart.”
This book is about Asian American sapphics falling in love over video games, the author’s name is Alice, and it’s being released on my birthday! I’m convinced that this book was made for me!
Say A Little Prayer by Jenna Voris (March 4)
“A wry, heartfelt tale of a teen who’s taking her church camp by storm—one deadly sin at a time.”
This book seems like such a fun sapphic rom-com! It also gives me massive, But I’m a Cheerleader vibes, which I love, since it is one of my all time favorite movies.
Roll for Love by M.K. England (April 8)
“Ashley Poston meets Becky Albertalli in this Sapphic, second-chance romance about a teen returning to her grandfather’s farm and how joining her childhood best friend’s Dungeons & Dragons game gives her the confidence to follow her dreams and get a second-chance at love with her first crush.”
Dungeons & Dragons is one of my favorite hobbies, so this book about two girls falling in love in Dungeons & Dragons as well as real life seems right up my alley!
The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennett by Linz McLeod (released April 29)
“After procuring several fervent assurances that his wife would apologize sincerely and deeply for his absence from Rosings that evening, Mr Collins reluctantly died.”
“Thus begins THE UNLIKELY PURSUIT OF MARY BENNET, a sapphic romance between recently widowed Charlotte Lucas and grown-up scientist Mary Bennet. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll wonder at the sheer sturdiness of a well-built pianoforte.”
Since I read Pride and Prejudice in my senior year of high school, I have believed that Mary Bennett is queer and deserves her very own beautiful love story. Thank you Lindz McLeod for making these dreams come true for me!
Brighter than Scale, Swifter than Flame by Neon Yang (May 6)
“A new Queer, Asian-inspired fantasy novella about a renowned dragon slayer who never takes her armor off in public, Brighter than Scale, Swifter than Flame reads like She Who Became the Sun meets The Mandalorian, with dragons!”
This is another book that sounds like it was made for me and I can’t wait for dragon hunter Yeza to become my newest fictional crush!
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab (June 10)
“Santo Domingo de la Calzada, 1532.
London, 1837.
Boston, 2019.
Three young women, their bodies planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots.
One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild.
And all of them grow teeth.”
V.E. Schwab is my all time favorite author, so when I heard that she was releasing a book that she lovingly refers to as “toxic lesbian vampires,” it immediately became my most anticipated book of 2025. When this book releases I will need at least a week to recover.
Amelia, If Only by Becky Albertalli (June 10)
“Amelia Applebaum isn’t in love with Walter Holland. He just happens to be her favorite moderately famous, chaotically bisexual YouTuber. Who she just happened to invite to prom. (But it’s fine. No, for real. If you delete the post, it didn’t happen.)
Okay, maybe her friends are right: She’s slightly parasocially infatuated. But Amelia just knows sparks would fly—if only she could connect with Walter for real. If only he would host a meet and greet. If only it were just a short road trip away. And if only Amelia could talk her best friends into making it the perfect last hurrah before graduation—even her newly single, always-cynical, guitar-toting best friend Natalie.
One thing’s for sure: All roads lead to butterflies. But what if Amelia’s butterflies aren’t for Walter at all?”
Becky Albertalli’s Imogen, Obviously was one of my favorite books I read in 2024, so I can’t wait to read this road trip friends to lovers romance!
A Treachery of Swans by A.B. Poranek (June 26)
An enthralling sapphic retelling of Swan Lake, for fans of Allison Saft and V.E Schwab.
I was already so excited for this book and then I saw the author describe the romance between the two main characters as reminiscent of Galinda and Elphaba from, which only made me even more excited to read it!
Lady Dragon by A.M. Strickland (August 26)
Rachel Hartman’s Seraphina meets The Priory of the Orange Tree in Lady Dragon, a sapphic YA romantasy from A.M. Strickland.
As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I immediately added it to my TBR. The author also said that this book features “butch4femme demisexual lesbians”, “lady & knight/bodyguard trope”, “grumpy/sunshine” and of course, dragons, which only made me more excited for it.
