Whew! I’ve been awfully busy with school, so I missed last week’s link round up. Remind me not to do that next time I get busy, because I built up 143 posts in my reader to share with you! It’s been a busy two weeks in the lesbian book world. Here are the links I’ve discovered.
Banned Books Week brought up a lot of coverage of banned queer books.
Alyson Books, the famous queer publishing house, is ceasing to publish anything other than e-books (despite not having published any e-books previously?). Read about it at Publisher’s Weekly, the Alyson Books website, Arsenal Pulp Press, OUTview, and Lambda Literary (and then again at Lambda Literary).
AfterEllen posted Across the Page: A literary thriller and a compelling memoir about sexual identity.
Bookish Butch is starting a lesbian book club. Go join in! The book for the end of October is My Year Of Meats by Ruth L Ozeki. (I’ve read it. It’s good.)
Bywater Books posted its October new titles.

Femslash4Fans Radio posted an interview with Utena (manga and anime) writers Sean Gaffney & Alan Harnum.
GLBT Promo Blog posted a chance to win two bisexual women romance books by Adriana Kraft.
GLBT Reading (or the Challenge That Dare Not Speak Its Name) posted its October Mini-Challenge: read a queer classic.

Loving Venus – Loving Mars posted the blurb for Higher Learning by Kris Starr, out October 6.
Our Big Gayborhood posted a guest essay by Katherine V. Forrest titled “Katherine V. Forrest: Ann Bannon’s Books Saved Her Life”, as well as an essay about Naiad Press called “The Accidental Publisher”.
I just found this fabulous resource for queer writers: QLit. It posts all sorts of writing opportunities for the queer community. Here are just a few QLit has posted lately.

Emma Donoghue interviewed herself at Sea Minor.
Leslie Feinberg was recognized as part of GLBT History Month at Eerie Gay News and Just Out Newspaper. (Ze is transgender, but hir first book Stone Butch Blues is a recognized as a lesbian classic, though the protagonist questions hir gender within it. Queer is complicated, but The Lesbrary attempts to be as inclusive as possible, even if the content isn’t strictly “lesbian”.)
Jae posted a link to a free e-book version of one of her short stories.
Lesbian author Jill Johnston died September 18th at 81. Her death has been covered at her website, Read Red, SFGate, The New York Times, Lambda Literary, and then again at Lambda Literary (recommended source).
Monica Nolan, author of Bobby Blanchard, Lesbian Gym Teacher, was interviewed at Fem Flator Fantiserar.
Kris Starr, author of Higher Learning, was interviewed at Paisley Smith’s blog.
Jeanette Winterson was interviewed at New Statesman and The Paris Review. Her memoir, Why Be Happy When You Can Be Normal? will be published by Cape in October 2011, according to The Bookseller. She is also writing a horror novella, which will be published by Arrow Books in the summer of next year, according to BBC News.
A discussion of the “lesbian classics” titled “How to Come Out: A Syllabus” was posted at Chamber Four.
