First of all, how amazing is that cover? Doesn’t it make you want to pick it up just by itself? Amazingly, this was a book I was assigned in a class. I very reluctantly put down Inseparable by Emma Donoghue (which is also amazing, and I will be reviewing it later) to read The Salt Roads, butRead More
Casey reviews In Another Place, Not Here by Dionne Brand
For readers unaccustomed to the Black Caribbean vernacular that begins Dionne Brand’s 1996 novel In Another Place, Not Here—like me—there’s a bid of an initial hurdle to leap over to sink into this book. But trust me, it’s worth it; and sink in you truly do. Brand is an exhilarating poet and although this isRead More
Casey reviews Cereus Blooms at Night by Shani Mootoo
The worth of something as delicious as Shani Mootoo’s novel, Cereus Blooms at Night, would be hard to overestimate. Amazingly, Cereus Blooms atRead More
Danika reviews The Voting Booth After Dark by Vanessa Libertad Garcia

She’s left at the mercy of her stepmother, forced to clean and lookRead More
Joint Review with Rie: Down to the Bone by Mayra Lazara Dole
Rie of Friend of Dorothy Wilde was kind enough to read Down to the Bone by Mayra Lazara Dole with me, and then we discussed it together. I tried to mark the spoilers (ones just marked “spoilers” are just for Down to the Bone, and spoilers for other books are indicated) so that you haveRead More
Lesbrary Sneak Peek: More books I got in the mail!
I got a box of books in the mail this week that I’m very excited about. (Thanks Bookmooch!) This is one of those really specific titles that I always find fascinating. In its defense, this isn’t actually all about lesbian hair (though you probably could write a book about it). It’s a humour book thatRead More
